About Alghero

Alghero is a lovely, small city on the west coast of Sardegna (Sardinia). Inhabited from ancient times by diverse civilizations, the city and surrounding area have points of interest dedicated to archaeology, including an architecture museum. Another interesting cultural museum, the museum of coral, tells the story of the fascinating animal species only found in the Mediterranean sea that held special prominence in the economy of Sardegna. With quick access to beaches by taxi, bus, or rental car, Alghero can serve as the home base for a beach focused vacation with many dining options. There is a long ocean walk with beautiful views of the marina and even a small theme park. Along the ocean walk you can easily peruse and purchase day-long excursions or rent boats for snorkeling adventures or aperitivo at sunset. Perhaps while you stay in Alghero you will hear the dialect of Catalan spoken from the time of the Aragon crown in the 14th century.
